Overview

Wrexham is now North Wales' largest industrial centre and this, combined with the fact that it is only twenty minutes from Chester and an hour away from Liverpool, means there isn’t very much Welsh about the place.

There are still a few charming old buildings in town, but the high street is just that of a pretty standard British town with all the major chain shops you would expect.

  • Travellers might want to visit St. Giles' church, which has an impressive 135ft steeple and the tomb of Elihu Yale, after whom the Ivy League university is named.
