The Pavilion Theatre opened in September 1991. It comprises 1031 seats situated in the stalls and circle level. The Auditorium was designed to accommodate theatre and orchestral concert audiences together with conference delegates. The lighting system adapts to the varying requirements of a theatre audience and caters for delegates writing notes in a conference.
The theatre complex has been designed to ensure easy access for ambulance and wheelchair-bound disabled persons. The main entrance ramp from East Parade allows access for wheelchair users to the Sun Centre / Theatre mall. The theatre foyers, box office, coffee lounge, bar and disabled toilets are all situated at the same level. Provisions have been included for wheelchair spaces in the theatre auditorium with two permanent spaces close to all the facilities.
The Pavilion Theatre puts on plays, musicals, comedy shows, music shows and operas.
