Aberdovey is known in welsh as Aberdyfi, it has a long history going back to when the village was founded around the shipbuilding industry. It is now best known as a thriving little harbour resort set within the Snowdonia National Park, where the river Dovey meets the blue waters of Cardigan Bay. It has a high quality beach, which was awarded the Blue flag beach award in 2005. Aberdovey has watersports galore - sailing, sailboarding, canoeing, fishing and boat trips. In the summer, there are yachting regattas and other water spectacles along with family entertainment. Aberdovey’s championship golf course at the western end of the village is also one of its major attractions.

While the town centre is the seafront, yacht club, pier and beach, the town itself stretches back from the coast and up the steep hillside. The town lies in the midst of typical Welsh coast scenery (steep green hills and sheep farms). On the north bank of the Dyfi estuary, it is accessed by the A493 with Tywyn four miles to the north and Machynlleth 11 miles to the east.

  • Aberdovey is renowned for its good value, excellent quality accommodation. You can choose from guesthouses, self-catering flats and hotels within the village and farmhouse accommodation, chalets, camping and caravanning just outside the town.
