Betws-y-Coed (pronounced "betoos-er-coyd"), meaning sanctuary in the wood, is the principal village of the Snowdonia National Park. Situated where the Conwy, Llugwy and Lledr rivers converge in the Gwydyr Forest, it is lovely walking country.
Local beauty spots include the Swallow and Conwy Falls and Fairy Glen, which are certainly recommended. The Swallow Falls are considered to be one of the most beautiful spots in North Wales.
