Two things inextricably link Llanberis and Snowdon: the Snowdon Mountain Railway and the well-trodden path between the two. Llanberis is across between a thriving tourist town and a traditional rural community. There are several routes up Snowdon and three of them start near Llanberis, at the top of the Llanberis Pass.

The Welsh Slate Museum also resides here and includes demonstrations involving fashioning blocks of slate into thin slivers. Near this is the Llanberis Lake Railway, which provides a picturesque forty-minute train ride.

  • Snowdon is the tallest mountain in England, Wales and Ireland, peaking at 3560ft. It has four summits: Crib Gogh, Crib-yddysgl, Y Lliwedd and the highest Yr Wyddfa. Established walks include: the Llanberis Path, The Miners and Pig tracks, Snowdon Horseshoe and Watking Path.
