Portcawl was originally a coal port but developed into a seaside resort when the coal industry waned. It is well positioned as a resort with three sheltered bays and also has a large amusement park at Coney Beach.

These days it is south Wales’ most popular resort and has something for all tastes; you can go shark fishing, surfing or play golf at one of Wales’ best courses. On a clear day the views extend out over the Bristol Channel as far as Exmoor.

  • The Grand Pavilion in Porthcawl is a major entertainment venue; they hold comedy evenings, music festivals, pantomimes and fantastic theatre productions. The Pavilion is on the Esplanade and so has brilliant views of the beachfront.
