South West Wales has excellent local train services and mainline links to London, Manchester Birmingham and the rest of the UK.

Two main lines give fast intercity services to Camarthenshire from London.

  • South Wales mainline to Newport, Cardiff and Swansea from London Paddington
  • North Wales mainline to Bangor and Holyhead
  • Onward intercity train services to Camarthen from Cardiff and Swansea
  • Twice daily trains to Newport and Cardiff from London Waterloo for Eurostar

Arriva Trains Wales run rail services across the Welsh railway network with stops at many local and regional stations in South West Wales.

The train journey from Swansea to Carmarthen along the Pembrokeshire Coastal National Park offers wonderful views of the Pembroke estuary and Carmarthen Bay - an essential trip for bird watchers.
