Just a couple of miles south of Pembroke, Lamphey is a quiet charming village most visited for its 13th century Bishop's Palace (or its exclusive Lamphey Court Hotel), a retreat for the bishop's of St David's.

  • Although it has been abandoned for centuries and much of it has been lost, the ruins sit in a pleasant setting in well kept lawns surrounded by the main walls; the remains of the Great Hall are impressive despite the weather's best efforts. Look out for the parapets along the top of the hall, built by Bishop Gower in the same style as those on the Bishop's Palace of St David's itself.
