Just south of Carmarthen in Carmarthen Bay sits the ancient town of Laugharne, settled on the tidal flats between the Taf and Twyi estuaries. A pretty town with winding streets and ancient castle it is a lovely place to stop.

Dylan Thomas Boathouse was the home to the poets’ family for 16years until his death in 1953, it is set in the most beautiful setting overlooking the tidal flats and estuary and is now a fascinating museum to him and his work. The old garage at the back is where he wrote and has been preserved/ recreated in a state of almost suspended animation.

  • Keep an eye out for are his old favourite pub, Brown's Hotel, while Dylan Thomas himself is buried in the town graveyard - look out for the simple white cross.
