Camarthenshire has its own small airport - Pembrey at Llanelli, for international and UK flights to South West Wales: the airport at Cardiff offers the most destination options. Cardiff International Airport is 70 miles, approximately 1 hours drive, from Camarthen and has connecting flights to London and Amsterdam if you want to fly to south-west Wales from Europe.

For ferry travel from Europe to South West Wales, the English Channel ports are within 4 hours drive of Camarthenshire.

Pembroke Dock and Royal Naval dockyard on the Camarthen coast has ferries to Ireland, as do Port Talbot, Fishguard and Milford Haven - all within 50 miles of Carmarthen.

  • The M4 motorway into England makes South West Wales easy to drive to from England and Scotland. Within Camarthenshire, the A484 passes from Carmarthen via Kidwelly to Llanelli. The M4, A40 and A477 dual carriageways (trunk roads) give good access to nearby Pembrokeshire, other parts of Wales and the UK.
