Plymouth, just over the River Tamar, is the closest European ferry departure point for south-west Cornwall, offering ferries to France, Spain and Portugal.
Penzance Port, Mount Bay, is 26 miles 35 mins drive from Truro via the A3059, A30 and A39. Ferries between Penzance Port and the Isles of Scilly cross in 2 hours 40 mins. Day trip cruises are also available from Penzance around the Cornish coast past Lamorna Cove and Lands End.
River crossing's and ferries along the Cornish coast are popular. There are variety of vehicle and foot passenger ferry trips across the Cornish Rivers Tamar and Helston, and also along the coast. Services include the St. Mawes to Place ferryboat and the Falmouth to St. Mawes service, which sails past Pendennis Point, St. Mawes Castles and Black Rock. The popular King Harry ferry to the Roseland peninsula and attractions of St Mawes and Caerhayes saves driving miles inland to get to the peninsula.
