Bude is only six miles from the Devon border. It came to prominence as a seaside resort in Victorian times and boasts great beaches, most of which have life guard cover in the summer months.

The area is peppered with lovely thatched cottages and there is an annual jazz festival held in August, which is billed as “New Orleans comes to Cornwall”. Bude has a canal, which was built to transport the mineral rich sands from the area in land, when it was constructed it was quite a feat of engineering.

  • Several great beaches surround the area, attracting sunbathers, swimmers and surfers alike. The pick of the bunch are: Summerleaze, Widemouth Bay, Crackington Haven, Crooklets, Sandy Mouth and Duckpool.
