To fly to east Cornwall the airports at Newquay and Plymouth lie only 16 and 32 miles respectively from Bodmin. Both offer several flights a day to London's Gatwick Airport, which has connections to destinations worldwide.
To reach east Cornwall by sea, the closest ferry terminal is at Plymouth Port, which is located at Millbay Docks on the south coast of Devon, approximately 50 miles from Bodmin. All year crossings to Roscoff in France are available in addition to the summer only service to Santander in Spain.
Mainline rail services run down the Cornish penisula between Bristol and Penzance via stations at Liskeard, Bodmin Parkway, Par, St. Austell, Truro, Redruth, Camborne and St. Erth.
For those driving around east Cornwall, the A38 passes directly through Plymouth heading west past the towns of Saltash and Liskeard, ending at Bodmin.
At Saltash the A388 travels north towards Bideford and Northam on the north coast of Cornwall and passes through the central Cornish town of Launceston.
At Liskeard the A390 offers a route to the coastal town of St Austell, passing through Lostwithiel and St Blazey. The A39 travels close to the Cornish north, passing through Bude and Camelford as it travels south to Wadebridge.
