Padstow is often said to be the premier resort on the north Cornish coast and it is a truly picturesque bustling little harbour, complete with a famous TV chef’s restaurants, Rick Stein’s St Petroc Hotel, The Seafood Restaurant, Stein's Fish and Chips and Rick Stein's Café.

It is an ancient place and was a significant early ecclesiastical centre when St Petroc (Cornwall’s most important saint) lived here in the sixth century. Padstow is the start point of the Saint’s Way which links the north and south Cornish coasts and gets its name from the early Welsh and Irish missionaries who used it when on a pilgrimage to the important centres of Celtic culture.

• It is also the start or end point of the Camel Trail, which runs along the path of an old disused railway track and goes through the Camel valley linking Padstow, Wadebridge and Bodmin. Its primary use is as a cycle trail but as it is mostly flat and level it is a great route for people in wheelchairs or those who need easy walking terrain.
