Port Isaac is just North of the market town Wadebridge, it is located on the coast and is a lovely fishing port, which dates from around 700. It is typical of the craggy, rugged villages of the North Cornish coast and is largely unspoilt. The main trade of the village is lobster and crab fishing and there is abundant sea life locally, including grey seals and puffins.

Most of the centre of the village consists of 18th and 19th century whitewashed cottages situated along the narrow valley and slowly creeping up the steep hillsides. The character of the old fishing village permeates the air and its dramatic setting, under high, rocky cliffs gives the whole area a timeless feel.

The surrounding areas are small but have attractions to offer. Nearby Rock houses a church, St Enodoc, that is the resting place of John Betjeman. Polzeath, which faces west towards Padstow boasts some of the best surfing beaches in the West Country.
