Crediton lies in the heart of an area of unique natural beauty. The town is an important centre of early Christianity and is widely acknowledged to be the birthplace of St. Boniface.

St Boniface was one of the first Christian preachers in northern Europe and is also the patron saint of both Holland and Germany.

  • In keeping with its ecclesiastical importance Crediton was the county's cathedral city until 1050, when it switched to Exeter.
