Winsford enjoys the popularity of being perhaps the prettiest village on Exmoor. Like many of the national park's villages it is based around a green with a small post office/ general store, church and couple of inns.
What makes Winsford particularly picturesque is the fact that it has eight bridges and a ford crossing over the River Exe, Winn Brook (from which it derives its name) and other streams. With its thatched cottages it is possible, just for a moment, to revel in Olde Englande at its best.
