The mainline from Bristol to Penzance runs through the region, with stations at both Bridgwater and Taunton.

First Great Western FGW is the main train operator in the Somerset region, running regular services out of London Paddington through much of west England including Newbury and Taunton, south Wales and Bristol as well as areas such as the Cotswolds and Malverns.
