Excellent Value - Great Location

Posted by Gail from Leamington, United Kingdom

My friend and I were visiting Glastonbury (no not the festival, Glastonbury is more than its festival) for a weekend and found the B&B at Heaphy's Cafe on the internet for £60 per room including full breakfast.

Great value. We had a fab, clean room (The Red Room), a double bed each in a large bright room with en-suite shower, tea/coffee & 4 large windows overlooking the square in Glastonbury centre.

Slightly unusual in that the B&B is not "manned" through the night but this is no problem.

We had breakfast (a good choice incl full English) in Heaphy's downstairs although you can choose to have a breakfast at the vegetarian cafe across the street.

Don't bother!

Posted by polly from Weymouth, United Kingdom

I took my mother and youngest dtr on a day trip to Glastonbury as mum had never been there before and we're interested in all things mystical! We chose Heaphy's Cafe as I was getting tired and in pain (I'm disabled), and have diabetes so need to eat regularly. Mum ordered three egg and chips two teas and a cafe moccha. We had to wait so long for the food we thought they'd gone to watch the hen lay the eggs or to dig up the potatoes in Lincolnshire. When it finally arrived they politely asked if we'd like ketchup, upon which given a yes please we were given a sticky bottle of heinz , i asked for a cloth to wipe it and a serviette was given to me. I wiped all around the lid the sides of the bottle and the bottom, when i had finished (and this is no exxageration) the tissue was black. It was disgusting. My mother then asked for salt and pepper and this took on the aspects of another hike to the himalayas before she got them. As i looked around I noticed the extractor pipe leading from the cooker hood, it was thick with dust and didn't look as if it had been cleaned in a month of Sunday's, the tables didn't look as if they'd seen a hygeine spray and dishcloth either. I thought you had to have a health and hygeine certificate to run food places obviously i was wrong. The service was terrible the cleanliness left a lot to be desired, (mushrooms would love it) needless to say I'm emailing the county council environmental health dept if I don't die of food poisonong before hand.
