The Quantock Hills lie on the edge of Exmoor, above the Vale of Taunton and are often described as the most beautiful part of the county. There are no major towns to spoil the landscape, just rural villages and hamlets that add character to the range.

Nether Stowey is perhaps the most famous as Samuel Taylor Coleridge wrote the Ancient Mariner and Kubla Khan here. The region’s links with poets does not end there as many of the early English Romantics, like Charles Lamb, William Hazlitt and William Wordsworth visited and were inspired by the area in the late eighteenth century.

  • The Quantock hills offer some fantastic walks, where you can spot lots of interesting wildlife. There is a barbeque area, which gets very busy in the summer months but offers a lovely surrounding for a picnic.
