Poole Port in Dorset is the closest port to the region, approximately 66 miles, 1 hour 30 mins drive, from Taunton via A roads.

At the terminal there are commission-free bureau de change facilities, car and caravan parking and, in the summer months, a restaurant and bar.

Plymouth Port in south Devon offers an alternative crossing point; it is approximately 76 miles, 1 hour 30 mins drive, from Taunton via the A38, M5, A374 & B3240.

• Ferry sailings to Roscoff in Brittany and Santander (summer only) in Spain
• Crossing times of seven hrs to Roscoff and 24 hrs to Santander
• The port is easily reached by motorways from the North, Midlands and Wales
