We decided to visit the Jack in the Green after I found their website which describes wonderfully home cooked Devon cuisine using fresh local Devon produce.
A lovely countryside location not too far outside Exeter, although I must admit at one point, WE did get lost.
The menu is packed with mouth watering delights. I chose the 'Exmoor Venison Loin with Parsnip Puree and Chocolate Game Jus' and was not disappointed! The wife is vegetarian, but had plenty to choose from, opting for 'Pan Fried Gnocchi with Aged Balsamic marinated Aubergines and Tomato Fondue'. Reasonable priced for what you actually get (just enough and very, very tasty). After our meal we had another drink in the bar and were lucky to get a comfy sofa next to the real flame fire, we really didn’t want to leave.
All in all its one of the best meals we have ever eaten! A lovely pint of real ale too.
Can't wait to return.
