The Torbay coast, otherwise known as the English Riviera, makes up three gorgeous villages Torquay, Paignton and Brixham.

There are endless choices and options for every kind of holidaymaker. From the classic Devon seaside resort town of Torquay to the more family 'fun park' Paignton, or a romantic and secluded escape in Devon's most southerly resort Salcombe, where you can laze in the sunshine and meander through the beautiful scenery and unexpected plant life.

Dartmouth and Totnes are both located on the River Dart and worthy spots to drop in if you are in the area. The fascinating Dartmouth will excite the historically curious and is a picturesque harbour side location.

• Totnes is a more residential market town, as well as being a local New Age centre.

Things to do

• Teignmouth, one of this country’s oldest resorts in the late Georgian/ early Victorian times has lovely period buildings to visit, such as the Assembly Rooms
• Check out the 1700ft bridge across the Teign and the golf course 800ft above sea level in Teigmouth
• Dartmouth houses the 17th century, granite pillared Butterwalk Row, Agincourt House (1671), or the Custom’s House dating from 1739
• The Royal Naval College has been on the same site in Dartmouth since 1905 and is where the country’s naval cadets are trained
