Boating and Yachting is extremely popular in the UK and Europe, it is a unique way to see the lovely UK coastline. An experience you'll never forget- with the wind in your hair and the feel of the fresh sea air sweeping past your face, as you cruise along in your power boat or yacht.

There are many yachting clubs all over the UK where you can go along and get some lessons. Hire a yacht or powerboat and explore the beautiful Scotland coast. The scenery is beautiful for cruising along the ridged west coast, exploring the natural alcoves. Or take a catermeran to the West Coast of England where you'll find great fishing being in the Bristol channel.

Britain is well known as a sporting nation and its facilities are exceptional for those who wish to indulge. The choices are limitless in both rural and urban settings; there are opportunities to indulge your Wimbledon fantasies with a spot of tennis, join a dance school or participate in that various forms of Martial Arts.

For a more sedate afternoons sport one can play snooker or pool and moving on to the evening bowling and ice skating are always popular with the kids. Further out of town are opportunities to go horseback riding, feel the calming effect of an afternoon by the river fishing or maybe take in a round of golf.

For those seeking more adrenalin fuelled activities there is surfing, sky diving, indoor snowboarding and even aircraft lessons and hire.

Robert Burns

2009 marks the 250th anniversary of Scottish poet Robert Burns' birth. Burns was a poet and a lyricist and is widely regarded as the national poet of Scotland.

The Burns Supper was started a few years after his death by a group of his friends; they held the supper to honour and remember Burns. The tradition caught on and the ritual of Burns Supper is now held all around the world.

His life and work will be celebrated throughout the year at many Burns-related events.
